✅ Key features of the challenge

Students per team: 4-5 students. The number of teams that work on your challenge can range from 2-3.

Programme: Master Communication Science (UvA)

Course: Developing Media Entertainment

No. of hours spent per team: 120 hours

Duration: October - December 2025

Deliverables: to-the-point advisory report and a presentation (slides) with recommendations for a media entertainment product.

Company time investment: 4-10 hours (regular contact - giving feedback, monitoring progress - with the student teams is required).

Matching fee: €850 (ex tax, charged by Master Challenge (NOT the university)).

📑 Challenge Examples

The student teams can work on challenges like, but not limited to, the following:

Improve current media/entertainment product so it appeals to the young adult audience.

Develop an entertainment-education media product to educate our target audience.

Turn our on-site (entertainment) product into an online format for use at home.

The challenge can include all sorts of media products, such as (interactive) videos, games and gamification, television, theater, movies, etc. The target audience can be a specific age-group, or individuals within a certain social context, but should still be part of the general population. Very specific (niche) audiences that are hard to reach or require very specialized knowledge are less suitable for this project. 🏢 Requirement for participating companies

Any company/organizations (startup/scale-up/corporate/incubator/NGO) with at least two people working in the company.

In business for at least 6 months.

Ideally operating in the creative/cultural/entertainment industry.

💰 Costs

To help facilitate this challenge a matching fee of €850 (ex tax) applies (charged by Master Challenge and NOT the university).

📨 How to apply

You can submit the challenge directly through the website. Provide a title that summarizes the challenge. Subsequently, briefly elaborate on your challenge (max. 150 words). Click here for a template you can use.

🗓 Planning

October 6: Deadline for submitting your challenge

October 8: Receiving message if your challenge is approved by the Course Coordinator

October 9: Student teams will submit their challenge ranking

October 10: Company representatives submit team ranking

March 13: Our matching algorithm will create matches

October 14: First kick-off meeting with the teams and professors (at the University of Amsterdam, 09:00-11:00)

December 12: Final presentations (at the University of Amsterdam) in time slots of 20 minutes (after you are matched to a team, we will schedule the time slots)
