Description

As the world becomes increasingly saturated with content, the challenges of promoting movies, TV shows, channels, music, video games, podcasts, and similar products have reached new heights. Crafting effective go-to-market strategies has become pivotal, with success or failure hinging on these approaches in a fiercely competitive environment.

During this 8-week challenge, master students will develop (and prototype) a campaign for your entertainment or media product based on your briefing. In their process, they try to:

understand the target audiences,

develop the strategic and creative approach to reach the audiences, and

plan relevant media and effective partnerships.

❗️ Please note, the product/service needs to be related to entertainment or media. Just to name a few: Movies, TV shows, streaming services, recorded music, live performances, video games, esports, game development services, books, magazines, newspapers, self-publishing platforms, educational content, broadcast news, podcasts, news apps, comedy.

✅ Key points of the challenge

Number of students per team: 4-5 students

Course: Marketing Media and Entertainment

Program: Master in Media & Creative Industries and Master in Media, Culture & Society

Duration: February 1 - April 2

No. of hours spent per team: 180 hours

Supervision: Supervised by lecturers from Erasmus University

Deliverables: Video presentation along with pdf with “project book”

Company time investment: Your time involvement is 8-12 hours in total (e.g. kick-off session, answering questions, reviewing the videos and selecting a top 3 and providing some feedback)

Costs: €500,- (ex tax) when matched to one or more teams.

🏢 Requirement for participating companies/organisations

Any company/organization offering a media or entertainment product targeting end consumers, B2C

Briefs and communications need to be in English (if the client is NL-based, they need to be open to target international audiences, for the sake of the exercise – e.g., internationals living in the Netherlands)

💰 Costs

To help facilitate this challenge a matching fee of €500,- (ex tax) applies (charged by Master Challenge and NOT the university) when matched (this is a flat fee, regardless the number of teams that will be assigned to your challenge).

🗓 Planning

December 18: Deadline for submitting your challenge.

January 5 (or earlier): Receiving message if the lecturer approves your challenge.

January 17-24: In case your challenge is approved, we will ask you to submit more detailed information about the challenge.

February 1 - February 5: Matching phase

April 5: You will receive the Pitch Video and pdf with “project book” of your team.
